The Upper Secondary History Tuition will cover thematic content teaching as well as writing practices. The format of classes applies to both the Pure History and Combined History subjects.
For the thematic content segment, students will explore various topics based on the prescribed themes. Notes are provided to support the exploration of these topics.
For the writing practice segment, students are tasked to attempt case study and structured essay questions. These practices are either guided or non-guided.
The upper secondary History tuition is organised into two types: Pure History (2174) and Combined History (2261).

Mock Tests - Each term will feature a mock test to gauge the knowledge proficiency of each student, showcasing key topics tested at schools.
Pure History
For Pure History (2174), students are required to study topics covered in Paper 1 and Paper 2:
Paper 1 - Extension of European control in Southeast Asia and challenges to European dominance, 1870s-1942
Paper 2 - Developments in post-World War Two world: The Cold War and decolonisation in Southeast Asia, 1940s-1991
What Your Child Will Learn
For Paper 1, students will explore four main areas:
Extension of European control in Southeast Asia - Featuring colonial rule in British Malaya, Dutch Indonesia and French Vietnam
After World War One - The aims and impacts of the Paris Peace Conference in the 1920s
Rise of Authoritarian Regimes - Two case studies, featuring Nazi Germany and Militarist Japan
War in Europe and the Asia Pacific - The developments that led to the start of World War Two in Europe and the Asia-Pacific.
Combined History
For Combined History (2261), students are only required to sit for one paper, which features five main areas under the theme ‘Making of the 20th Century Modern World, 1910s-1991.
What Your Child Will Learn
At a broad level, the Combined History programme will be sectioned in two parts:
Part One - Impacts of World War One, Rise of Authoritarian Regimes, War in Europe and the Asia Pacific
Part Two - The Cold War and the End of the Cold War
