WhyLearn Blog Writing Workshop

Get started on this exciting journey on writing

Welcome to our first-ever WhyLearn Blog Writing Workshop! Students will be put through an enriching programme during the month of December that will prepare them to write proficiently and understand the importance of copywriting. During the course of this workshop, students will have to attend 2 compulsory writing sessions before embarking on an competition.

About the Workshop

Immerse yourself in an engaging and beneficial writing programme

In preparation for the competition, we will conduct a workshop that aims to instill in students the basic fundamentals of article writing and usage of social media in a responsible manner to engage in meaningful discussions and interact responsibly with fellow users. It is a prerequisite for students who are intending to join the competition. Students will have to sit through a series of 2-3 hour lessons, each of which will teach students various skills.

Workshop details

The workshop will be held during the first two weeks of December, from 061217 – 141217 at Economics Focus, Blk 283 Bishan Street 22 #01-185, 570283. Light refreshments will be provided during the course of the workshop.

Lesson 1

Copywriting and Refinement of writing

Lesson 1 will touch on 2 topics, Copywriting and Refinement of writing. Here students will explore the various aspects of copywriting from an education standpoint, and after which will be taught interesting ways to refine their articles and essays.

Lesson 2

Planning, Writing, and the Use of Social Media

Lesson 2 will touch on the final 2 topics, planning, writing and the use of social media. Students will be required to apply whatever they have learnt during the first lesson to research and write up a plan for the article they intend to submit for the competition. Last but not least, students will be equipped with the knowledge to fully utilize the power of social media to engage and reach out to users.

Writing the competition entry

After the completion of the two lessons, students will prepare their competition entry at the stated venue. Participants will apply what they have learnt during the 2-day workshop to craft their best possible article. Then, they will submit their entry. All submitted entries must be approved by the WhyLearn Event Organiser before they are eligible for voting.

Submit your article

During the period 131217 – 141217, students will be tasked with writing a 500-word (minimum) essay on the topic ‘What does it mean to be a Smart Learner?’ During this period. Submission deadline will close on 141217.

Garner votes

Upon successful completion and submission of their essays, students will make use of the voting period, 151217 – 150118 to canvass for votes through social media. The essay with the highest votes by the end of the voting period will walk away with the grand prize!
